A Move Analysis Study on Sayyid Murtada’s Question-Answer Works
The genre analysis of the written works is a sub-branch of discourse analysis. In such studies, the purpose of the analysis is to extract the linguistic features of the text in order to identify the moves and the rhetorical elements of the text. In this field, little research has been done on the scientific works remained from the past. Therefore, the present study takes a descriptive approach to analyze the moves in two of Sayyid Murtada’s works, in which he has answered a number of religious questions and doubts. The results reveal that the two analyzed works consist of two moves, including “establishing the niche” and “providing the answer”; furthermore the analysis shows that these two works have been written in a “reader-responsible” mode.
