A Comparative Study of Sayyid Murtada’s Most Important Theological Views and the Imamiyah Hadith Inheritance
The way Sayyid Murtada dealt with the Hadith inheritance of the Imamiyah differs from how much he used this inheritance in various theological issues. The study and comparison of his theological views toward the Imamiyah hadith inheritance reveals that Sayyid Murtada utilized this valuable inheritance; and at the same time took a critical and eclectic approach in appealing to a number of traditions in theological issues. His critical approach can be realized concerning the issues such as: innate knowledge, world of pre-existence, and the creation of the souls. In the mentioned issues, Sayyid Murtada believed in the acquired knowledge; and hence he did not tend toward the prevalent view in the traditions, i.e. the belief in the “innate knowledge”. His eclectic approach can be found concerning some issues such as: the will, fate and destiny, and capability. In Sayyid Murtada’s view, the will and the divine fate and destiny just include man’s “good deeds” and his “disobediences” are not included in God’s will and fate and destiny.
