A Study on the Buyid’s Treatment with the Religious Minorities

The present article is a study on the Buyid’s treatment with the religious minority. The notions to be defined in this study include: indulgence, tolerance, Islam and tolerance, etc. The major reasons for the Buyid’s appropriate treatment with the religious minorities are believed to be tolerance, Islamic instructions and Arab Nationalism. The Buyids were acquainted with the spirit of the instructions of Islam and they believed that the unjust behavior of the caliphs toward the religious minorities in the Islamic society was not in accordance with these instructions. Rather than to the Arab nationalism, they tended more toward tolerance as one of the major principles of their governance. As a result of such tendency, the religious minorities had complete freedom of speech and they were even appointed to a number of important governmental positions.
