A Study on Sayyid Murtada's Status in the Procedure of the Coalition between the Imamiyyah Shiites and Rationalist Mo'tazilis
This article deals with Sayyid Murtada's role and position in the coalition between the Shiism and the Mo'tazili rationalism. The Mo'tazili rationalist movement developed since the late second century (After Hijrah) in the Muslim territories and after many falls and rises it increasingly influenced numerous schools and denominations. One of the influenced denominations was the Imamiyyah Shiism along with its outstanding figures. Of course, the coalition with the rationalist Mo'tazilis was accompanied with many disputes in Shiism; however, after going through the particular backgrounds and historical events, it was finally accomplished in the fourth century by the efforts of the people such as Sheikh Mufid and Sayyid Murtada 'Alam al-Huda. In comparison to the previous Imamiyyah theologians, Sayyid Murtada played the utmost influential role in this coalition. Although, because of his Shiite beliefs, he did not approve the theological authority of the reasoning, as it was common among the Mo'tazilis, in comparison to the previous Imamiyyah theologians, the climax of this trend manifested in him.
